Epidote granite is an opaque, granite-like rock characterized by a mottled appearance of green epidote, white to gray quartz, and pink feldspar. Grease to glass polished luster, matt granular to uneven fractures. Its refractive index is 1.729-1.768 (spot readings may fall approximately at 1.74-1.76 or 1.52-1.54, depending on the location being tested), no birefringence, and fluorescence is generally unresponsive.
